  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • Flaked sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the cream cheese until evenly distributed.
  6. Swirl in the caramel sauce gently, being careful not to over-mix.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Sprinkle flaked sea salt on top of each cookie.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and centers are slightly soft.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a gooey texture, under-bake slightly. Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
