Description
A delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors, this Savory Brown Sugar Pineapple Chicken is perfect for family gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Chicken (breast or thighs)
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar
- 1 cup Fresh pineapple (chopped)
- 1/4 cup Soy sauce
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp Ginger (minced)
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Prep Your Ingredients: Start by cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces and mincing the garlic and ginger. If using fresh pineapple, chop it into chunks.
- Sauté the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and season with salt and pepper. Sauté until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- Add Garlic and Ginger: Toss in the minced garlic and ginger, stirring frequently for about a minute or until fragrant.
- Introduce Pineapple and Sauce: Add the pineapple chunks to the skillet. Then pour in the soy sauce and sprinkle the brown sugar over the top. Stir to combine.
- Simmer and Thicken: Reduce the heat to medium-low, allowing the mixture to simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Taste Test: Adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Serve: Once the chicken is glossy and the pineapple is caramelized, serve it with rice or a salad.
Notes
For a vegetarian twist, substitute chicken with tofu or tempeh. You can use honey or maple syrup in place of brown sugar if desired.
