Description

A delightful dish of crispy shrimp coated in a light batter, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb large raw shrimp, deveined
  • 1 cup tempura batter mix
  • 1 cup cold sparkling water
  • Optional vegetables (slices of sweet potato, zucchini, or bell peppers)
  • For the dipping sauce: soy sauce, mirin, dashi

Instructions

  1. Peel and devein the shrimp, leaving the tails intact. Pat them dry.
  2. In a bowl, mix tempura batter with cold sparkling water until slightly lumpy.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet to about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dip each shrimp in the batter and carefully fry in hot oil for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauce.

Notes

Use cold shrimp for better frying results and do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
