Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
  4. Divide the dough in half and shape into logs, wrap in parchment paper, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Slice the chilled dough into heart shapes and place on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill dough thoroughly to prevent spreading. Use room temperature ingredients for better incorporation.
