- 1 cup sour cream
- 12 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Optional herbs (parsley, thyme)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- Sauté the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and translucent. Then, add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up as it browns (5-7 minutes).
- Incorporate the chopped mushrooms, cooking until they soften (about 4-5 minutes).
- Mix in the sour cream, salt, pepper, and any additional herbs or seasoning. Allow to simmer gently before removing from heat.
- Combine the cooked noodles with the beef mixture until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13 baking dish, leveling it out with a spatula. Sprinkle shredded cheese across the top.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Rest for 10 minutes before serving, garnish with chopped parsley.
Notes
For a healthier version, consider using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
