Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and spices. Whisk together.
- Cream the butter and sugars in another large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the molasses until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool the brownies completely before preparing the frosting.
- Beat cream cheese and butter in a bowl until creamy, then gradually incorporate powdered sugar to achieve desired sweetness.
- Spread the frosting on the cooled brownies and sprinkle with cinnamon or chopped nuts.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute gluten-free flour. For a vegan option, use applesauce instead of eggs and adjust ingredients as necessary.
