Description

A rich chocolate cake perfect for Halloween, decorated with ghostly frosting and festive treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Alternate adding the dry mixture and the milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into your prepared cake pans and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Decorate with buttercream frosting and festive toppings as desired.

Notes

Ensure ingredients are at room temperature. Do not rush the cooling process before frosting.
