Ingredients

  • 1 round sourdough or French loaf
  • 1 cup fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup fresh crab meat
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Cut off the top of the round loaf and hollow it out.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add chopped onion and bell peppers, cooking until softened.
  5. Incorporate minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  6. Mix in the seafood and cook until opaque, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Combine seafood mixture with cream cheese, herbs, and cheese.
  8. Fill the hollowed-out loaf with the seafood mixture.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
  10. Serve warm with reserved bread pieces for dipping.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, replace seafood with sautéed mushrooms. Pair with a crisp salad for a complete meal.
