Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup jalapeños, chopped
  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • Fresh herbs (cilantro or parsley), for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Rinse the fresh cranberries and remove any mushy ones. Wear gloves while chopping jalapeños.
  2. Blanch the jalapeños: Blanch the chopped jalapeños in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Make the syrup: Combine sugar, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  4. Add the cranberries and jalapeños: Stir in cranberries and blanched jalapeños. Allow to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until cranberries burst and mixture thickens.
  5. Can or store: Pour the hot mixture into sterilized jars or refrigerate to enjoy right away.

Notes

Taste along the way to balance sweetness and spice levels as needed. Be careful not to overcook the cranberries.
