Ingredients

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Place them in a large pot, cover with water, add a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
  4. Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot or mixing bowl. Mash until smooth.
  5. Stir in the butter, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and season with salt and black pepper. Adjust to taste.
  6. Spoon the mashed sweet potatoes onto a serving dish. Serve warm.
