Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then pour in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and cocoa powder in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and blend just until combined.
  6. Divide the dough in half and mix one half with cocoa powder.
  7. Form the cookies by rolling small portions of each dough into logs and twisting them together.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut oil for butter. For gluten-free cookies, use almond flour instead of all-purpose flour.
