- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 large Eggs
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- Red and Green Food Coloring
Instructions
- Cream the butter and sugars together until fluffy and light.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well before adding the vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts and color one red and the other green.
- Roll each color into a rectangle on a floured surface and lay them on top of each other.
- Swirl the two colors together to form a log, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and slice the chilled dough into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are set but centers are soft.
- Cool on a wire rack and optionally frost with icing.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut oil for butter. Chill the dough before baking to maintain the shape.
