Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onions, minced garlic, beaten egg, chopped sage, and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl and mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté onions until translucent, then add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  6. Stir in pumpkin puree, broth, salt, pepper, and sage. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and let them cook together for a few minutes.
  8. Serve in bowls, garnished with additional sage or parmesan.

Notes

For additional flavor, consider mixing in cooked mushrooms or serving over pasta or polenta.
