Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: Rinse 1 cup of basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Sauté Garlic: Heat 2 tablespoons of butter or olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add minced garlic.
  3. Combine Rice and Turmeric: Stir in the rinsed rice, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add Broth: Pour in 1 and ¾ cups of vegetable or chicken broth.
  5. Bring to a Boil: Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a rapid boil.
  6. Cover and Simmer: Once boiling, cover the skillet with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  7. Fluff and Serve: After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it sit for another 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.

Notes

For perfect rice, avoid lifting the lid while it simmers and experiment with spices like cumin or coriander.
