- 1 cup long-grain basmati rice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or olive oil
- 3–4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 and ¾ cups vegetable or chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prep the Ingredients: Rinse 1 cup of basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Sauté Garlic: Heat 2 tablespoons of butter or olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add minced garlic.
- Combine Rice and Turmeric: Stir in the rinsed rice, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, and season with salt and pepper.
- Add Broth: Pour in 1 and ¾ cups of vegetable or chicken broth.
- Bring to a Boil: Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a rapid boil.
- Cover and Simmer: Once boiling, cover the skillet with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Fluff and Serve: After 15 minutes, remove from heat and let it sit for another 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.
Notes
For perfect rice, avoid lifting the lid while it simmers and experiment with spices like cumin or coriander.
