- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter
- 1 cup diced fresh apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 egg
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Fold in the diced apples.
- Combine heavy cream and egg in another bowl, then add to dry ingredients.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface, press it into a 1 inch thick circle.
- Cut into wedges or shapes, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Mix powdered sugar with maple syrup for glaze and drizzle over warm scones.
Notes
For a special touch, sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the glaze for added crunch.
