- 3 lbs pork shoulder
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Prepare the pork by trimming any excess fat.
- Mix spices in a bowl and rub them over the meat thoroughly.
- Sear the pork in a skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side if desired.
- Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker, top with onion, and pour barbecue sauce and vinegar over it.
- Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 8-10 hours until the meat is tender.
- Shred the pork with two forks and mix with juices before serving.
- Serve on a bun, over rice, or in tacos, garnished with coleslaw.
Notes
This dish improves with leftovers, becoming more flavorful the next day. Ensure to let the meat rest before shredding for extra moisture.
