  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherries: Wash and pit the fresh cherries, then combine them in a bowl with brandy and let soak for at least one hour.
  2. Mix the ice cream base: In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Blend in the cherries: Gently fold the soaked cherries and their liquid into the cream mixture and stir in the chocolate chunks.
  4. Chill the mixture: Cover and refrigerate the base for at least two hours or overnight.
  5. Churn the ice cream: Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions until soft-serve consistency is achieved, about 20–30 minutes.
  6. Freeze to firm up: Transfer churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least four hours.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Remove ice cream from the freezer 10-15 minutes before serving for easier scooping.

Notes

Feel free to substitute with frozen cherries if fresh ones aren’t available. For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
