  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Vegetable or peanut oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the cleaned shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, paprika, cayenne, and garlic powder.
  3. Remove shrimp from buttermilk and dredge in the cornmeal mixture until well coated.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with remoulade or cocktail sauce.
