- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Vegetable or peanut oil for frying
Instructions
- Soak the cleaned shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, paprika, cayenne, and garlic powder.
- Remove shrimp from buttermilk and dredge in the cornmeal mixture until well coated.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
- Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with remoulade or cocktail sauce.
