Decadent and fudgy brownies infused with refreshing peppermint and topped with crushed peppermint candies, perfect for holiday gatherings.

- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in cocoa powder until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter mixture and granulated sugar, then add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly. Stir in the peppermint extract.
- In another bowl, sift together flour and cocoa powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing just until no streaks remain.
- Fold in chocolate chips and half of the crushed peppermint.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into squares. Top with additional crushed peppermint for decoration if desired.
Notes
For more fudgy brownies, avoid overbaking. Allow them to cool before slicing for clean cuts.
