- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, and sea salt in a separate bowl.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the butter mixture on low speed until just mixed.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll to 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out heart shapes using cookie cutters from the dough.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are set but centers are slightly soft.
- Cool on a wire rack and decorate with melted chocolate or powdered sugar, if desired.
Notes
Chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling to prevent spreading. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
