Description

Soft and buttery Christmas sugar cookies, perfect for festive celebrations and family traditions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness using a floured surface. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before decorating with icing or sprinkles.

Notes

Ensure butter is softened but not melted for the right texture. Chill the dough to maintain shape while baking.
