Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Chop the onions, garlic, carrots, and any other vegetables you plan to use.
  3. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, sautéing for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Toss in the carrots and peas, mixing well, and allow to soften for about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, sprinkle in your herbs, and season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.
  7. Roll out your pie crust and fit it into a pie dish. Pour in the meat mixture, smoothing the top.
  8. Cover with another layer of pie crust, sealing the edges. Cut slits in the top for steam to escape and brush with egg wash.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Cool the pie for at least 10 minutes before serving.
