Description

Delightful hand pies filled with tart cranberries and wrapped in flaky, buttery pastry.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 68 tablespoons ice water
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch or flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk or water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  2. Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Cook cranberries, sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and water in a saucepan until thickened.
  4. Roll out chilled dough and cut circles. Fill with cranberry mixture.
  5. Fold and seal edges. Brush with egg wash and bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Cool slightly and enjoy!

Notes

You can substitute cranberries with cherry or raspberry filling. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
