- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- A pinch of nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Zest of half a lemon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- Extra cinnamon for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Wash the apples and slice off the tops.
- Scoop out the core and some flesh to create a bowl for the filling.
- Beat the cream cheese in a bowl until smooth.
- Add in the sugar, vanilla, lemon juice, and zest; mix until creamy.
- Incorporate the egg and blend smoothly.
- Fold in the cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Spoon the filling into each apple, leaving space at the top.
- Mix brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon; sprinkle over filled apples.
- Bake covered for 20-25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until tender.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
