Description
A heartwarming dessert that combines tart apples with a rich cheesecake filling, perfect for cozy family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 firm tart apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisps)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- Honey or maple syrup for drizzling
- Cinnamon and nutmeg for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Core the apples carefully, leaving enough of the walls intact. Slice the bottom of each apple to create a flat base.
- In a mixing bowl, blend cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy. Add sour cream or Greek yogurt and mix well.
- Stuff each apple with the cream cheese mixture, sprinkling cinnamon on top.
- Drizzle honey or maple syrup over each apple and sprinkle more cinnamon.
- Place apples in a baking dish, add a splash of water to prevent drying out, and bake for 25-30 minutes until tender.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm, optionally with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
For dairy-free options, substitute cream cheese with blended tofu. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
