- 8 oz high-quality bittersweet or semisweet chocolate
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Cocoa powder or powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan, lining the bottom with parchment paper.
- Melt the chocolate and butter together in a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth.
- Whisk the eggs and granulated sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
- Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the egg and sugar mixture along with the vanilla extract and salt.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Dust with cocoa powder or powdered sugar before serving.
