Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Sauté the onions until translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Create the roux by sprinkling in the flour and cooking for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in the broth gradually, whisking to prevent lumps.
- Season with salt, pepper, and a dash of soy sauce.
- Finish with a splash of milk or cream, stirring to combine.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
Adjust the thickness by adding more broth if needed. Taste and modify seasonings to your preference.
