- 1 lb fresh halibut fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup ice-cold water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Garlic powder (optional)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Optional vegetables (sweet potatoes, zucchini, bell peppers)
Instructions
- Prepare the Halibut by cutting fillets into bite-sized pieces.
- Combine all-purpose flour and cornstarch in a mixing bowl, then gradually whisk in ice-cold water until just mixed.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Dip each piece of halibut into the tempura batter and fry in hot oil for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain the fried pieces on paper towels and season with salt before serving.
Notes
Serve immediately with dipping sauces like ponzu or soy sauce for the best flavor.
