- 2 large slices rye or sourdough bread
- 2 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- Dash of hot sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Secret Sauce: In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and hot sauce. Adjust to taste and set aside.
- Shape the Patties: Combine ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Shape into two equal patties, slightly larger than your bread.
- Caramelize the Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add the sliced onion, stirring until golden—about 15 minutes.
