Delicious shells filled with a creamy seafood mixture, perfect for family gatherings and special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 12 large pasta shells
  • 1 cup shrimp or crab (or a mix)
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for sautéing

Instructions

  1. Start by cooking the large pasta shells in salted water until al dente, about 8 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Drain and let cool slightly.
  2. In a skillet, melt some butter and gently sauté minced garlic and chopped onion until fragrant and translucent. Add your seafood and cook until just pink, then remove from heat.
  3. Combine the seafood mixture in a bowl with cream cheese, sour cream, and half of the shredded cheese. Mix in chopped fresh herbs and lemon juice until well incorporated.
  4. Spoon the filling into each cooled shell, being generous. Arrange them snugly in a prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour any leftover filling and remaining shredded cheese over the stuffed shells, then cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil, sprinkle more cheese on top if desired, and return to the oven for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Allow the dish to sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to use sautéed mushrooms as a vegetarian alternative to seafood. Adjust spices to your taste.
