Description

A nostalgic recipe for soft, buttery sugar cookies that are perfect for holiday gatherings and family celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace and preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix dry ingredients: whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add egg and vanilla, mixing until just combined.
  5. Combine both mixtures gradually, mixing until just incorporated.
  6. Roll out the dough, divide in halves, wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Cut shapes with cookie cutters and place on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
  9. Cool and decorate as desired.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough before cutting and baking. Use parchment paper for easy removal.
