- ½ cup Butter (softened)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- In a small bowl, combine the buttermilk and red food coloring, then gradually mix it into the cookie batter.
- Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until set but still soft in the center.
- Let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack, then frost with cream cheese frosting.
