Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • ½ cup Butter (softened)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Red Food Coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the buttermilk and red food coloring, then gradually mix it into the cookie batter.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until set but still soft in the center.
  9. Let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack, then frost with cream cheese frosting.
  10. Enjoy your delicious cookies!

Notes

Allow butter to soften for easier mixing and cream frosting onto completely cooled cookies.
