Description
A delicious Thanksgiving stuffing with toasted nuts and fresh herbs, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf rustic baguette or sourdough, cubed
- 2 cups cremini or shiitake mushrooms, chopped
- 1 cup pecans, walnuts, or hazelnuts, toasted
- 1 cup onions, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh sage, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh thyme, chopped
- 3 cups chicken broth or vegetable stock
- 4 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Prepare the bread: Begin by cutting your bread into cubes and leaving them out to stale for a few hours, or toast them lightly in the oven.
- Sauté the aromatics: In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté the onions and celery until translucent.
- Add the mushrooms: Toss in chopped mushrooms and sauté until they release moisture and turn golden, about 6-8 minutes.
- Incorporate the herbs: Sprinkle chopped herbs over the skillet and stir gently.
- Mix in the nuts: Add toasted nuts to the mixture, stirring until evenly distributed.
- Combine with bread: In a large mixing bowl, combine bread cubes with the sautéed mixture and gradually add stock until moist.
- Bake it: Transfer stuffing to a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F for about 25 minutes.
- Enjoy: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, allow the bread to stale to achieve the perfect texture. Adjust stock to avoid mushiness.
