A delightful savory stuffing that combines traditional panettone with Italian sausage, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf Panettone, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 8 oz Italian Sausage, sweet or spicy
- 1 medium Onion, diced
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 stalks Celery, diced
- 2 Carrots, diced
- 2 tbsp Fresh Rosemary, chopped
- 2 tbsp Fresh Thyme, chopped
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
- 2 cups Chicken or Vegetable Broth
- 2 tbsp Butter
Instructions
- Prepare the panettone: Cut into bite-sized cubes and leave to dry for a few hours or lightly toast in the oven at 300°F for about 10-15 minutes.
- Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter, add sausage, and sauté until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Sauté the veggies: Add diced onions, celery, and carrots to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes, then stir in garlic for an additional minute.
- Combine everything: In a large bowl, mix the bread cubes, cooked sausage, veggies, and herbs. Add broth, mixing until coated but not soaked.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F, transfer to a greased baking dish, cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Serve and enjoy: Let rest for 10 minutes before serving for enhanced flavors.
Notes
For best results, sauté the vegetables and sausage well to develop rich flavors. Adjust broth gradually to avoid sogginess.
