Description

A gourmet dish featuring perfectly seared scallops in a rich lemon butter sauce, ideal for both special occasions and weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Fresh sea scallops (preferably dry-packed)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 Fresh lemon (juice and zest)
  • 2 cloves Fresh garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • Fresh thyme or parsley (for garnish)
  • Salt and freshly cracked pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel and season them generously with salt and freshly cracked pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil until shimmering hot.
  3. Gently place the scallops in the skillet, making sure they’re not crowded. Leave them undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Flip the scallops over and add 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic to the pan. Baste the scallops with the buttery mixture for another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the scallops and sprinkle with herbs. Let them rest momentarily.
  6. Plate the scallops and drizzle with additional lemon butter from the skillet. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use thoroughly dried scallops for a great sear. Do not overcrowd the pan when cooking.
