Description
A gourmet dish featuring perfectly seared scallops in a rich lemon butter sauce, ideal for both special occasions and weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 Fresh sea scallops (preferably dry-packed)
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
- 1 Fresh lemon (juice and zest)
- 2 cloves Fresh garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon Olive oil
- Fresh thyme or parsley (for garnish)
- Salt and freshly cracked pepper
Instructions
- Pat the scallops dry with a paper towel and season them generously with salt and freshly cracked pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil until shimmering hot.
- Gently place the scallops in the skillet, making sure they’re not crowded. Leave them undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the scallops over and add 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic to the pan. Baste the scallops with the buttery mixture for another 1-2 minutes.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the scallops and sprinkle with herbs. Let them rest momentarily.
- Plate the scallops and drizzle with additional lemon butter from the skillet. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use thoroughly dried scallops for a great sear. Do not overcrowd the pan when cooking.
