- 5 cups Chex cereal (Corn, Rice, or Wheat)
- 1 cup mixed nuts (Walnuts, Pecans, or Almonds)
- 2 cups pretzels
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C).
- Combine Chex cereal, nuts, and pretzels in a large mixing bowl.
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir in the brown sugar and vanilla extract. Bring to a gentle boil and stir continuously for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add baking soda carefully (the mixture will bubble).
- Pour the toffee mixture over the dry ingredients and stir to coat.
- Spread the mix evenly onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for about 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Cool completely before breaking into pieces and storing in an airtight container.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free Chex cereal. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for about two weeks.
